Facial Herpes - Cold Sore

Cold Sore Outbreaks
Herpes? Yuk !! No Way.. It’s just a cold sore.
Sorry but its the same thing... yes that's right... a lot misinformation surrounding this virus may be what keeps the statistic rising.. so lets clear up some confusion.
Herpes Simplex Type 1 is one of the strains of the herpes virus that is generally known to infect the facial area of the body. The virus retreats into the nerve cells around the ear area and lays dormant.
Different individuals have certain triggers that cause or signal the virus to leave the cell and travel along the nerve fibers and manifest in the soft skin of the lips and nasal membrane.
The HSV type 1 is generally known to infect the facial area however it can easily be transmitted to another’s genital area during oral sex for example. Here it can cause recurring genital outbreaks similar to those that occur on the lips and nasal areas of the face.
Similarly to a genital outbreak the first sign of an outbreak is a tingling sensation followed by a reddening of the area.
This then turns to a red spot or spots which become fluid filled blisters that eventually break open and discharge a watery fluid.
This is the most contagious period when there are literally millions of the virus present hoping to make contact with another mucous membrane or open skin where they can infiltrate the cells and again repeat the cycle.
However it should be kept in mind that the Herpes virus could be shed when no symptoms are actually visible on the skin or lips.
Cold sore outbreaks can be unsightly and cause distress, both physical and emotional as unlike genital herpes can't be easily covered up or hidden from view.
Persons suffering from regular cold sore outbreaks should keep a good diet and make sure they sleep and exercise sufficiently to keep the body's immune system in tiptop shape.
If you've had recurring genital or facial herpes outbreaks here is some good news.
